Andorra for Digital Nomads

Not every location-independent professional wants to establish a local company or make a substantial investment to obtain residency. Many simply want to live in a stable European jurisdiction while continuing to work for clients, employers, or businesses based abroad. For these individuals, Andorra offers a dedicated residence permit designed specifically for remote work and digital professions.

The route is particularly relevant for consultants, software developers, agency owners, online educators, content creators, freelance professionals, and founders who manage businesses serving international markets. It can also apply to remote employees of foreign companies and business owners whose companies are established outside Andorra, provided their work does not require a fixed geographic location and is carried out primarily through telecommunications and digital technology.

The residence permit was introduced under Andorra's Digital Economy Law as part of a broader effort to attract professionals contributing to the digital economy, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Applicants must demonstrate that their work is genuinely location-independent and maintain a minimum physical presence in Andorra of 90 days per year.

From a tax perspective, Andorra offers a straightforward framework, with personal income tax capped at 10% and 0% tax on the first €24,000 of income. Combined with a dedicated legal pathway for remote workers, this has made Andorra an increasingly attractive option for professionals seeking a long-term European base without relocating their clients, employer, or business operations.
